Planoly vs Plann (2026): One Gives You a Volume Discount, the Other Gives You Exactly Zero

2026-09-06 · 5 min read · By Marcus Lin · NoobClaw Blog
TL;DR
  • Monthly pricing pulled first-hand on 2026-09-06: Planoly $14 / $24 / $47 for 1 / 2 / 6 social sets; Plann $15 / $30 / $75 for 1 / 2 / 5 brands.
  • Cost per unit: Planoly falls $14.00 → $12.00 → $7.83. Plann is $15.00 → $15.00 → $15.00 — a flat line to the cent.
  • The units are not the same thing. A Planoly "social set" is defined as one of each of eight channels; Plann’s page does not define what a brand may hold.
  • Planoly sells add-on sets; Plann sells none. On Planoly’s Pro tier the add-on costs more than the tier average — check that column, do not assume it.

These two look like the same product with different logos. Visual planners, Instagram heritage, near-identical entry price. Put their pricing pages side by side on the same afternoon, though, and they turn out to hold opposite beliefs about what you should pay as you grow.

All figures below were pulled directly from each vendor's pricing page on 2026-09-06, monthly billing, USD. We compare monthly against monthly because the annual toggles on these two pages present differently and we could not verify them to the same standard in one pass.

The two tables

Planoly (planoly.com/pricing, monthly):

TierMonthlySocial setsUsersAdd-ons
Starter$1411
Growth$2422$10/set, $5/user
Pro$4766$8/set, $3/user

Plann (plannthat.com/pricing, monthly):

Power User$1511none offered
Build$3022none offered
Grow$7554none offered

Divide, and the products separate

Cost per unit — the calculation neither page performs for you:

EntryMiddleTop
Planoly ($ per social set)$14.00$12.00$7.83
Plann ($ per brand)$15.00$15.00$15.00

Planoly gives you a real volume discount: the top tier costs 44% less per set than the entry tier. Plann gives you none — not "little", none. Fifteen dollars, three times, to the cent.

On Plann, moving up a tier never buys you a cheaper brand. It buys you one more brand, plus one or two more seats, at exactly the price you were already paying. The upgrade is a bundle, not a discount.

Which is not automatically bad. It is simply a different offer, and it means "which is cheaper" has no single answer: at one unit Planoly is cheaper by a dollar; at the top tier it is cheaper by nearly half.

Planoly vs Plann · Cost per unit falls on one and stays flat on the other
Planoly's per-unit price falls from $14.00 to $7.83 across tiers. Plann's is $15.00 in every tier.

The trap: those two divisions used different denominators

Everything above is arithmetically correct and potentially misleading, because a "social set" and a "brand" are not the same object.

Planoly defines its unit on the page: a social set lets you "link up to one of each social channel, including Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and TikTok." One set is a bundle of up to eight connections. So Pro's six sets are up to 48 channel connections — and $7.83 per set is roughly a dollar per connection, if you fill every slot.

Plann's paid tiers list six connectable platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube Shorts), but the pricing page does not spell out how many accounts one brand may hold. We are not going to guess. What we will say is the rule this produces:

The add-on column, which does not behave the way you expect

Planoly sells extra sets; Plann does not sell anything à la carte. Compare each add-on to its own tier average:

The comfortable assumption — "topping up always beats upgrading" — fails on Planoly's own top tier. This is a rule we have had to downgrade to a tendency after finding counterexamples, and it is why that column has to be calculated per vendor, per tier, rather than reasoned about.

Plann's answer to the same question is simply "no". No add-ons at any tier. Need a sixth brand? Your only move is the next tier, and there is no next tier above Grow on the page. That is a genuine ceiling, not a pricing quirk.

The free tiers are not comparable either

Plann has a Free Forever plan and Planoly does not lead with one, but Plann's free tier is one of the most tightly constrained we have catalogued — 30 posts per month total across posts, stories and carousels, 5 video posts per month, Instagram only, and a media library capped at 120 items. That is four simultaneous gates. It is a trial with no clock, not a workable free plan.

Planoly vs Plann · A social set and a brand are different denominators
A Planoly social set is defined as one of each of eight channels. Plann's page does not define what a brand may hold — so the denominators are not interchangeable.

Which one, and when neither

That last case is a different category of product. NoobClaw sits there — a desktop AI matrix growth engine that runs on your machine, signs into each account in its own fingerprint-isolated browser, and generates a distinct piece of content per account from that account's own niche and persona, rather than distributing one calendar to everyone. Different problem, different tool; if your bottleneck is arranging content you have already written, a scheduler is the right purchase and this is not.

FAQ

Is Plann cheaper than Planoly?

Only at the entry tier, and only by a dollar ($15 vs $14 monthly). From the second tier onward Planoly is cheaper per unit and the gap widens sharply — $7.83 per social set at Pro against a flat $15.00 per brand at every Plann tier. But confirm what one Plann brand includes before treating that comparison as final.

What exactly is a Planoly "social set"?

Planoly's pricing page defines it as linking "up to one of each social channel, including Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and TikTok". So one set is a cross-platform bundle, not one account — which means a price-per-set figure is not comparable to a price-per-account figure from another vendor.

Can I add just one more brand to Plann instead of upgrading?

No. Plann's pricing page offers no add-on purchases at any tier, so the only route to more brands is the next plan up. Planoly does sell add-on sets — $10 per set on Growth and $8 on Pro — though on Pro that add-on is slightly more expensive than the tier's own average per set.
