SocialBee vs Buffer (2026): Categories and Recycling vs a Bill That Grows One Channel at a Time
- SocialBee (2026-09-17): Bootstrap $29 for 5 profiles, Accelerate $49 for 10, Pro $99 for 25 with 3 users and 5 workspaces; annual billing is $290 / $490 / $990 a year.
- Buffer bills per channel: from $6 (Essentials) and $12 (Team) monthly, falling to $4, $3 and $1 per channel as counts rise; Free is 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts each.
- SocialBee's real meters are content categories (10 / 50 / unlimited) and posts per category (1,000 / 5,000 / 5,000) - the recycling engine has a ceiling nobody quotes.
- Add-ons expose SocialBee's marginal price: five extra profiles for $15 a month, an extra user or workspace for $10 each.
Two tools, roughly the same money at five accounts — $29 a month on SocialBee, $30 on Buffer Essentials — and almost nothing else in common. One of them is a queue you fill. The other is a library you sort into buckets and then replay forever.
SocialBee vs Buffer is really a question about whether your content is disposable or reusable, and the pricing structures follow from that. Both pages read 2026-09-17: socialbee.com/pricing and buffer.com/pricing.
The price ladders, side by side
| SocialBee plan | Monthly | Annual (billed yearly) | Profiles | Users / workspaces | $/profile monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bootstrap | $29 | $290 ($24.17/mo) | 5 | 1 / 1 | $5.80 |
| Accelerate | $49 | $490 ($40.83/mo) | 10 | 1 / 1 | $4.90 |
| Pro | $99 | $990 ($82.50/mo) | 25 | 3 per workspace / 5 | $3.96 |
| Pro50 / Pro100 / Pro150 | $179 / $329 / $449 | $149.20 / $274.20 / $374.20 per month | 50 / 100 / 150 | 5 per workspace / 10, 20, 30 | $3.58 / $3.29 / $2.99 |
There is no free plan — a 14-day trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee instead. Buffer, by contrast, keeps a permanent free tier of three channels with ten scheduled posts each, then charges per channel: $6 for channels 1-10, $4 for 11-25, $3 for 26-50, $1 for 51+ on Essentials (Team: $12, then $4, $3, $2), with yearly billing saving about two months.
So where do they cross?
| Accounts | Buffer Essentials, monthly | SocialBee, monthly |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | $18 (or free with 10 posts each) | $29 (Bootstrap) |
| 5 | $30 | $29 (Bootstrap) |
| 10 | $60 | $49 (Accelerate) |
| 25 | $120 | $99 (Pro) |
| 50 | $195 | $179 (Pro50) |
SocialBee is cheaper per account almost everywhere above five accounts — but Buffer's Essentials includes one user and SocialBee's Bootstrap and Accelerate also include exactly one, so the seat story only diverges at Pro (3 users per workspace) and Buffer Team (unlimited members at double the channel rate).

SocialBee's actual meter is the category, not the profile
The feature nobody prices correctly is the one the product is built around. SocialBee organises posts into content categories and republishes them on a schedule — evergreen recycling. And the categories are metered twice:
- Categories: 10 on Bootstrap, 50 on Accelerate, unlimited on Pro.
- Posts per category: 1,000 on Bootstrap, 5,000 on Accelerate and Pro.
- Content sources (RSS imports): 10 / 30 / unlimited.
That second row is the one that decides whether the recycling engine fits your library. It is also the row that never appears in a comparison table, because tables are built from the columns vendors put in their headline cards.
Buffer meters what you connect. SocialBee meters what you keep. If your plan is to build a library once and replay it, you are buying storage with a ceiling, not a queue.
The add-on prices are the other tell. SocialBee sells five extra profiles for $15 a month, one extra user for $10, one extra workspace for $10 (or $150 / $100 / $100 a year). Five profiles for $15 is $3 per profile — cheaper than the $5.80 average on Bootstrap and cheaper than Pro's $3.96. The lesson generalises across this category: the low tier sells you an entry ticket; the marginal account is almost always cheaper as an add-on than as an upgrade. Work out the crossover before you jump a plan.
The workspace column deserves one line of its own, because it is the meter that separates SocialBee's agency plans from everything below them: Bootstrap and Accelerate give you one workspace, Pro gives five, and the agency tiers give ten, twenty and thirty. If you manage clients, the workspace count — not the profile count — is usually what forces the upgrade, and an extra one is $10 a month.
One oddity from today's fetch worth flagging so you do not budget around it: the agency section still displays a birthday promotion (50% off for three months, code shown, "offer available until June 10"). It is September. Treat expired banners as decoration, not as a price.
What Buffer gives you that SocialBee does not, and vice versa
Buffer is the better pick when: you want a genuinely free tier to start on; your channel count is small or wildly variable (drop a client, drop a channel, the bill moves the same month); you want an API on every plan, with published quotas of 3,000 / 7,500 / 15,000 requests a month; or you need unlimited team members and approvals, which Team includes. Its ceiling is honest and published too — "unlimited" scheduling is capped by fair use at 5,000 posts per channel.
SocialBee is the better pick when: your content is evergreen and you want it recycled automatically rather than re-queued by hand; you want unlimited AI content generation included on every tier; you need workspaces to separate clients (5 on Pro, 10 to 30 on the agency plans); or you are above ten accounts and want a flat plan price instead of a per-channel meter.
And the case for neither: if the bottleneck is that fifty accounts need fifty different posts today, a recycling engine will faithfully republish the same library across all of them. Making the content differ per account — and pacing the posting so it does not read as one operator — is a separate job, handled by tools like NoobClaw that generate per account from its own niche and persona and publish through your own local browser logins.

Five checks before you subscribe
- Is your content reusable? If no, you are paying SocialBee for an engine you will not run.
- How many posts will live in one category? 1,000 on Bootstrap is the first wall.
- Add-on or upgrade? Five profiles at $15 versus jumping a tier — do the arithmetic once.
- Does your channel count move? Buffer's per-channel model flexes monthly; plan tiers do not.
- Who else needs a login? One user on Bootstrap, Accelerate and Buffer Essentials alike; unlimited on Buffer Team.

FAQ
Is SocialBee cheaper than Buffer?
Above five accounts, generally yes on list price: $49 for 10 profiles against $60 for 10 Buffer channels, $99 for 25 against $120, $179 for 50 against $195. Below five, Buffer is cheaper and has a free tier SocialBee does not offer. Annual billing narrows it: SocialBee's $290 / $490 / $990 per year works out to $24.17 / $40.83 / $82.50 a month.
What is a content category in SocialBee, and why does it matter for price?
Categories are buckets you sort posts into so the tool can recycle them on a schedule. Your plan limits both the number of categories (10 / 50 / unlimited) and the posts inside each one (1,000 on Bootstrap, 5,000 on Accelerate and Pro). If you are building a large evergreen library, that per-category cap is a more relevant limit than the profile count on the card.
Does Buffer have anything like evergreen recycling?
Not in the same shape. Buffer is a queue with a calendar, tags, drafts and a 250-tag limit on paid plans; there is no category-based re-posting engine. If automatic replay of a content library is the reason you are shopping, that is a feature difference, not a price difference — and it is the clearest reason to pick SocialBee.
