SocialBee vs Hootsuite (2026): $29 per Five Accounts vs $99 per Person, Priced at 10 and 25 Accounts

TL;DR
  • SocialBee bills accounts ($29 for 5, $15 per extra 5); Hootsuite bills people ($99 per seat for up to 10 accounts, $199 per seat for unlimited accounts, annual rate). The headline $29 vs $99 compares
  • One person with 10 accounts: $44 to $49 on SocialBee against $99 on Hootsuite. Three people with 25 accounts: $99 on SocialBee Pro against $597 for three Professional seats (September 28, 2026).
  • The flip: for one person, Hootsuite Professional ($199) becomes cheaper than SocialBee's cheapest route from 61 accounts, because Hootsuite stops counting accounts at that plan (monthly SocialBee agai
  • Approval workflows start at SocialBee's $49 plan and at Hootsuite's $399-per-seat Advanced plan. A three-person team that needs approval pays $99 against $1,197.

SocialBee starts at $29 and Hootsuite at $99, and that is the last moment the two prices are comparable. SocialBee's $29 buys five social accounts for one person. Hootsuite's $99 buys one person, with ten accounts attached. Add a colleague and one bill stays flat while the other doubles; add forty accounts and the opposite happens.

We read SocialBee's pricing page and Hootsuite's plans page on September 28, 2026 and priced two team shapes readers ask about: one person running 10 accounts, and three people sharing 25. Then we kept going until the ranking flipped. SocialBee prices are USD monthly billing before tax. Hootsuite only publishes an annual-billing rate per seat per month; its monthly rate is not on the page.

How do SocialBee and Hootsuite count what you pay for?

SocialBee counts connected accounts. Bootstrap is $29 for 5 profiles with 1 user and 1 workspace, Accelerate $49 for 10 with 1 user, Pro $99 for 25 with "3 user/workspace | 5 workspaces". Agency tiers go to $179 for 50, $329 for 100 and $449 for 150, each with 5 users per workspace. Any plan can add "5 new profiles for $15/mo", a user for $10 or a workspace for $10. The page defines the unit: "if you connect 2 Instagram profiles, 1 Facebook page, and 2 X (Twitter) profiles, it counts as 5 accounts." Yearly billing is ten months' price.

Hootsuite counts people. Its FAQ states that "Hootsuite plans are sold per user (or 'seat'), so you can add as many users as your organization needs", and the plan table lists "User seats" as "1+" on every paid tier. Standard is "Manage up to 10 social media accounts"; Professional and Advanced are "unlimited social accounts". The prices are in the page's structured data as 99.00, 199.00 and 399.00 with the note "Billed annually", and the FAQ repeats them: "Paid plans start at $99 for a Standard plan, $199 for a Professional plan, and range up to $399 for an Advanced plan." The visible price cards, on our fetch, rendered the words "per month per user/month" with no number in front of them; the only Hootsuite page we know that prints the figure in plain text is its nonprofit page, which reads "Normally $99 per user/mo", "$199 per user/mo" and "$399 per user/mo" next to the discounted rates.

The approval column is from the cards: SocialBee lists "Post approval system" from Accelerate, and Hootsuite lists "Review and approve content with your team" only under Advanced. That one row changes the three-person math more than the seat price does.

SocialBee vs Hootsuite pricing: one person with 10 accounts, three people with 25

One person, 10 accounts. On SocialBee, Accelerate is $49, or Bootstrap plus one $15 pack is $44 if you can live without CSV upload and approval. On Hootsuite, Standard is exactly 10 accounts on one seat for $99. Hootsuite is about double here, and the extra buys the inbox, brand monitoring and AI drafting on the Standard card, not capacity.

Three people, 25 accounts. SocialBee Pro is $99: 25 profiles, 3 users per workspace, and approval included. On Hootsuite, 25 accounts exceed Standard's cap of 10, so every seat has to be Professional: three seats at $199 is $597 a month, or $7,164 a year, and approval is still not included because it lives on Advanced. Three Advanced seats would be $1,197 a month. The same team on SocialBee pays $99 with approval.

Notice the last row: one person with a large account count reverses the ranking, and the rating aggregators never mention it.

At how many accounts does Hootsuite become cheaper than SocialBee?

For one person, 61. SocialBee's cheapest route is $29 plus $15 for every five accounts beyond the first five, which is $194 at 60 accounts and $209 at 61. Hootsuite Professional is $199 for one seat and stops counting accounts. So the line that starts at twice SocialBee's price is undercut by SocialBee's own add-on curve just past 60 accounts, and from there Hootsuite is flat while SocialBee keeps climbing: $314 or $329 at 100 accounts, $449 at 150. That 61 sets SocialBee's monthly price against Hootsuite's annual rate, because Hootsuite publishes nothing else. Put SocialBee on its own yearly billing (ten months' price, so $24.17 plus $12.50 a pack) and the crossover moves to 71 accounts; the shape of the answer does not change.

Figure: one person's monthly bill as accounts grow; the lines cross at 61 accounts. Data source: socialbee.com/pricing and hootsuite.com/plans (September 28, 2026), NoobClaw analysis (self-made chart)

Two conditions: SocialBee's page does not say how many $15 packs you may stack on Bootstrap, so past 50 accounts the practical SocialBee price may be the $179 or $329 agency tier rather than the pack curve; that moves the crossover earlier, not later. And every extra person on Hootsuite adds $199, which moves it later: with two people the flip is near 125 accounts, and with three people SocialBee is cheaper at every count we tried up to 150.

SocialBee's bill follows your accounts. Hootsuite's follows your headcount. One person with a big matrix is the only shape where Hootsuite is the cheaper scheduler.

More on the per-seat model in Hootsuite is now sold per seat and what "unlimited social accounts" really costs.

What does Hootsuite's extra money buy, and what does either page leave out?

Hootsuite's cards sell more than a scheduler. Standard lists "Respond to messages from one inbox" and "Monitor your brand and competitors"; Professional adds "Automate inbox replies and workflows", "Forecast social trends up to 90 days ahead" and custom reports; Advanced adds review-and-approve and message routing across a team. If your job is replying to customers and reporting upward, that is what $199 a seat is for; SocialBee's page does not claim to match it. SocialBee's cards sell content categories, content sources, "Unlimited AI content generation" on every plan, and analytics history (3 months on Bootstrap, 2 years above). It is a publishing library first.

Both pages bury a trial rule. Hootsuite: "Trial accounts have daily posting limits (10-20 posts per organization, depending on plan). Bulk scheduling is not available during trial." If you want to test 25 accounts posting daily, the 14-day trial cannot show you that. SocialBee: "Posting stops automatically once your trial expires", so a queue you build in the trial goes quiet on day 15 unless you pay; there is a 30-day money-back guarantee after that.

What real customers say about the size of the bill lines up with the seat math. A Hootsuite reviewer in Canada wrote on Trustpilot on February 13, 2026: "They charge 3k/year", in a one-star review mostly about support. On today's list, one Professional seat billed annually is $2,388 before tax, and one Advanced seat is $4,788; the review does not say which plan or how many seats. Another long-term customer wrote in late August 2026 that all connected accounts vanished from the dashboard overnight and that reconnecting them "one by one" had taken months. Both are single accounts, not a pattern, but they show two costs no plans page prints: the annual commitment and the reconnection work when something breaks.

Neither page prints Hootsuite's month-to-month rate; every $99, $199 and $399 above is the annual-billing figure, so ask sales before paying monthly.

SocialBee or Hootsuite: which should you pick?

Pick SocialBee if more than one person needs a login, your accounts number under 60, or you want approval workflows without a $399 seat. Three people with 25 accounts is the textbook case: $99 against $597.

Pick Hootsuite if one person runs 61 or more accounts, or you are buying the inbox, listening and reporting and the scheduler is incidental. One person with 100 accounts pays $199 on Hootsuite against $314 to $329 on SocialBee.

The case against each: Hootsuite's per-seat price punishes any team, and its approval feature sits on the most expensive tier. SocialBee's Bootstrap and Accelerate plans are single-user, its add-on stacking limit is unpublished, and its analytics history on the $29 plan is three months.

Both tools will draft a post for you (SocialBee's AI generation is unlimited on every plan; Hootsuite's Standard card lists "Generate posts and images with AI"), but neither is built around 25 or 100 accounts each needing copy that reads differently, and that is the cost that grows fastest: X's developer policy tells developers never to post identical or substantially similar content across multiple accounts, so the copy is where the risk concentrates. NoobClaw is one option for that layer: a desktop app that drafts a different post for each account from its own niche and persona and publishes through browser sessions you log into on your own machine, billed per action or per piece of content, with per-platform account limits on each plan. Apart from Reddit, it is not an official API integration, and it only runs while your computer is on, so keep a person reviewing what goes out. FAQ

Is SocialBee cheaper than Hootsuite?

For almost every team, yes. One person with 10 accounts pays $44 to $49 on SocialBee against $99 on Hootsuite; three people with 25 accounts pay $99 against $597 (September 28, 2026). The exception is one person with 61 or more accounts, where Hootsuite Professional at $199 undercuts SocialBee's add-on curve (71 accounts if both are billed yearly).

Does Hootsuite charge per social account?

No. Hootsuite charges per user seat. Standard ($99 per seat, annual rate) allows up to 10 social accounts; Professional ($199) and Advanced ($399) allow unlimited accounts. Adding a person adds a seat; adding an account on Professional adds nothing.

Which plan includes post approval on SocialBee and Hootsuite?

SocialBee lists a post approval system from its $49 Accelerate plan. Hootsuite lists "Review and approve content with your team" only on Advanced at $399 per seat, so a three-person team that needs approval pays $1,197 a month on Hootsuite against $99 on SocialBee Pro.
